  • Trans fluid replacement with a happy ending and not so happy ending

    So I replaced the original trans fluid out of the car last night, It was dark brown with no visible material in it, Wow what a difference in gear changing. On the down side I found one of the sides of the clutch return spring to be broken off, So I get into work this morning and looked it up in good old Gm world and found this was a common issue back in the day. Part locater said the nearest one was in VA as far as dealers, I did have one overnighted yesterday and its here.... Time for the fun to start tonight

    Automatic trans are recommended to have the fluid changed every 30k.
    Manuals don't ever have to be, but I change at the first 30k then thats it.

      Mine is at 88k and never been done, all other fluids have been changed at some point, I get carried away with fluids sometimes but Ive seen so many issues in my wrenching days from lack of maint so I guess thats where it comes from
