i have been debating on what type of motor and trans mount to get i was thinking solid for the fact that they will more then likely never have to be changed. i know that it will make the ride more uncomfortable. or i was thinking the prothane mounts.

what do you guys have or recommend or what are you using

Whatever you do up front, I like to go down one step for the trans

    Unless stock of course

      I recommend stock rubber mounts.

Solid engine mounts are for tractors and dragsters.

Yup. I have this on my Iroc....wish I didn't sometimes!

Don't go solid up front unless you need it. Don't go poly trans unless you need it.

I understand that comforability will no longer be there but I'm looking for supporting mod I don't want to have to change the for a long time I ripped the stock trans mount when I first put my 315s on the rear end

Every LS1 car I've ever been in with Poly motor mounts feels like factory. I'm surprised you have a problem with the 3rd gen.

I would go poly motor and rubber trans.

The Iroc is poly all the way around. The 98 is poly front, rubber trans...but I haven't driven that one yet

Have solid motor mounts and poly trans. The cars really does not feel any different than when it had poly mounts at the engine and trans. My old Lumina actually vibrated more when it had a busted motor mount

100% agree on softer for the trans that the engine mounts. Had a poly trans mount and it wasn't too bad, switched over to poly motor mounts and couldn't stand to drive the car. Had a few buddies that are mechanics ride with me and they all commented on it. Switched to rubber and it went away immediately.

This is one of those topics i cant agree with the status quo... Unless its a M6/A4 thing. I have stock engine mounts and a poly trans mount. I dont notice any vibrations. I tried going back to a stock rubber trans mount because of discussions like this and it was miserable. The shifter bounced around on holeshots and i believe it amplified wheel hop. So i put it back to poly and decided I am happy with the configuration I have. Every car is different though. Trans/clutch/stall as well as suspension can play a direct role in what works best. Components should be selected as components of an overall system, not just "this part is always best"

on my camaro i had solid motor mounts and a poly trans mount. the only difference i felt was the trans never moved. everything felt nice and solid.

As someone who is going to be buying motor mounts in the coming months, this thread confuses me even more lol.

Ill probably just stay stock on everything and play it safe.
