  • Where to get flywheel and clutch balanced?

As the title says, where is a good place to get a flywheel and clutch balanced?
95 LT1 M6. I am in Shelby Township, MI (Macomb county).
About to pull the trigger on a Mcleod street twin setup.
Mcleod techline recommends balancing. Seems like for the money it should come balanced.

LT1's have zero balanced dampeners up front and a balanced flywheel in the back.

Ideally they new flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate should be balanced with the crank (which should be balanced with the rods/pistons/ect)

Unless it has the removable weight and you're going to neutral balance it Any reputable shop in the area will have the equipment or a goto guy to get balancing done

Well this is the plan I was thinking, have the new flywheel balanced to the current flywheel. Then put the PP, floater and disks back on to verify balance is the same. If not, then the PP would be modified to match. Assume this means the PP is neutral balanced.
I'm not going to disassemble the engine to replace a clutch. Even though it would be best for balancing purposes.

I always have them balanced. Any good machine shop will balance them.

What you're looking for is a "match balance". I needed the exact same thing done over the summer & when I asked around on this the only place anyone suggested was Dynamic Speed & Marine in Chesterfield. Maybe other places will do this but I couldn't find any recommendations for other shops at the time. I am happy with the job they did on mine. My brand new new pressure plate was way off so I'm very glad I did it.

I am glad they are suggesting this to their customers. A few months back my work sent a twin disc assembly to McLeod to be rebuilt. Them being a reputable operation we assumed it was ready to install. Wrong! The engine had a vibration, and I gave one of the guys an earful communicating "we recieved a product that was not ready to install and there should have been a note suggesting balancing."
We highly suggest balancing the flywheel/clutch assembly when we sell a clutch, we have noticed less vibration of the engine and shifter buzzing on older cars. I can call the place that balances our clutches, I am not sure if they welcome work from the general public.
