  • 97 lt1 4l60 for a 98 ls1

    I found a performa built level 2 4l60 built for a 97 lt1 and im wondering will it plug and play in my 98 ls1?

    Not an LS1 guy but I am pretty sure its a different bolt pattern

      It can be done, and it has.

      Don't quote me on all this, this is coming from memory. Bellhousings are different but the 12 o'clock hole can be added to the earlier one. You need a spacer on the crank and the converter holes need to be elongated on the LS1 flywheel. Some of the dimensions are a little different.

        Interesting what about the wiring harness is it the same?

          I'm almost certain that it won't work, I believe the bolt pattern is the same but the spline is different as I know LT1 and LS converters are different.
          Doing less with more

            Just need a differnt flex plate and spacer. Bell housing will bolt up.

              LS1 flywheel will work. You will need this between the flywheel an converter pilot:


              The holes on the LS1 flywheel need to be opened up to accept the older style converter. I tried it with my old 700r4 when I checking my options for the Impala build. Electronics should hook right up from 97 to 98. Check if the bellhousing is removable or if the tailshaft housing has 6 bolts instead of 4, this means it is a later 96+ trans.
