  • TCS turned itself off / rear end

I was cruising along freeway speeds today and saw the TCS OFF light up on the dash. figured this was a rather strange time for something to pop up, I was cruising about around 2000rpm.
I don't have any ABS INOP or Brake lights pop on like alot of other people are having when their TCS light goes; so I haven't really found any solutions searching online.

The only thing I can think of is a few weeks ago I had done relatively minor power slide pulling out onto the road. I have stock 3.08s and an open diff. Basically after that My rear felt a little more bouncey/bumpy similar to a bad shock. I kept checking my wheel lugs and tires for damage but never saw any. That would be the only other reason that gives me any concern about the rear end.. if it was a mechanical thing I wouldn't know what to check for. Any ideas guys

My TCS defaults to off since I did my rearend swap. No idea why, but screw it. Never had it on when I drove anyways..

I just read that a guy replaced his throttle position sensor and it took care of his TCS OFF light??? He wasn't having any problems with his ABS either.

I don't mind mine defaulting to off. Saves me the hassle of flipping the switch..

haha, I'd hate having the light on all the time

Does the light turn off when you hit the button?

Sorry for the thread jack OP. no, my switch does nothing now. My ABS functions as it should also. As for the light, it was always on cause I always turned my TCS off, so no biggie for me.

Guess I should clarify, I had traction on the entire time i was driving since it was more of an economy pace than a spirited pace. it randomly turned itself off. At that point I could not turn the TCS back on. I don't have any SLP reverse switches installed or anything.
I let the car sit went into the gym for an hour, came back out and it was on by default again when I started the car. Figuring these are early symptoms of something going bad in the rear end. what would cause that

I can tell you I have brand new sensors and reluctor wheels and my TCS stays off all the time(since my rear end swap). No idea why it would default off..

It likely isn't sensor related but a possible short in the module? A tech-2 scanner should be able to pull up a stored code.

I still don't understand how changing a TPS could solve a TCS issue

is that the type of scanner I'd have to pay a mechanic for or is it pretty common at like autozone or anyone here have one?

You'll need to pay a shop, they are about 4 grand
