  • Rear end- Stumped...either that or I just dont want to accept it....

I have a feeling I just dont want to accept it-

Pretty sure the Rear end in the chevy parts car is another 2.41:1.......no posi......

So far, I have found that the PJ code is 2.41 not locking for '78, '79 and '81.......but nothing about '80, and the PJ code for a 69 is 3.42- and thats it......Hmmmm.....the parts cars an '80.

I figured I would make a post and get some answers, just to be safe before I for go swapping rear ends while I swap out leaf springs and shocks. I would hate to miss out on a better rear end, just because I didnt ask.

The rear came from an '80 berlinetta and the code off the axel is 2PJG120 1.

    I appreciate the help guys.

Turn it over and count the rotation of one wheel revolution.

I threw out good 2.41 rear ends from second gen Camaros before. Can you imagine the top end your car would have with it.

If you're going to beat on your car at all, any money put into that rear is a waste unless you can set it up yourself. Otherwise head straight to a S60, 12 bolt, or 9"
When in doubt, Whip it out !

I would keep an eye out on craigslist for one thats already been geared, the real issue is having a reputable shop do the swap plus the cost of the gear set is going to be way more than someone should ever invest in a 10 bolt. I know its not exactly what your looking for but I will have a 3.23 geared rear for sale here shortly if you have any interest.
