  • 700r4 guys, come on in!

I need to get my trans built before the motor goes back in.

    Here are my two options:

Stock rebuild kit: no link (suggestions)?

    Street strip kit:
    http://www.700r4l60e.com/store/produ...&cat=19&page=1

There are a few upgrade options at the bottom, are any of them worth it?

I have a guy that can rebuild it for me it's just tough to swallow $600. Anyone have any other recommended kits? The car will go to track a few tins in the summer and I'm unsure if I'm planning in dd'ing it or not.

              Bring this back a bit.

New question, I need to change my wot shift points. Currently I'm shifting wot at 4600 rpms. I have read I need to change the govenor springs. Where can I get the ones I need and what do I need?

              Thanks!!!

Buy a BM or tci gov recal kit. Like $50.
It will take a few tries. The weights generally affect high rpm shift and the springs affect part throttle.
                Make small changes.

If it were my car id weight it to shift at about 2500 so i could shift it manually for everything but cruising. Thats how my cousins coronet is setup and i love it!

Don't you mean the other way around? Shift it while cruising but let it shift itself during WOT/track runs?

Nope. A mechanical trans will shift responsively when shifted manually.

                            The car I mentioned earlier:

                            Brian's 93 Z28 was setup this way.

+1 for shifting manually at the track. Did that with the Coan 700R4 in my last T/A. Get a Neal Chance converter, the lock up felt like another gear!
