  • 4.3L v6 questions

    ive been looking at 4.3L v6's more notably the vortec 4.3's and had a few questions. im told that sbc mounts will work in swapping the engine, if thats true then will the placement be the same as a sbc or will it be set back farther forward or back? depending on that would certainly result in if the transmission lines back up to the crossmember.

    Same position. The mounts on the V6 are cast further up on the block.

      so all my hearing about sbc mounts working may not be all that true for the engine to be in the same place so it lines up with the cross member?

        should bolt right in. 4.3 is just missing the front two bores

          thats what i figured. should just sit in place of a sbc basically. everything SHOULD bolt right up just have to figure out wiring and cooling and all that which again shouldn't be uber difficult

              that is interesting. i think im dead set on a 4.3 for my sis, dunno what i want to put it in yet though im thinking some sort of thirdgen bird. my "friend" troy had a 4.3 in his colorado i think it was and that thing would scoot especially for how heavy the thing was. it was definitely heavier than a thirdgen with all the power options he had in it.

                Colorado's only came with the 4 cylinder, I5 (inline 5), and later with the 5.3l

                That turbo motor can power cars into the 12's with simple bolt ons and get damn good gas mileage.

                    i know it wasnt the colorados i couldnt remember what it was though, it has escaped me.
