  • 10 bolt carrier?

I am in the process of a LT1 swap into my firebird the donor car is a 94 z28 6 speed and i was looking at getting 4.11s but i have no clue if its a series 2 or series 3 rear end in the z28. Any ideas? any help would be greatly appreciated

I would imagine its a 2, you can tell by how many plugs for the antilock brakes it has. I believe it was after 98 they went to 3 and there were sensors on each back wheel. NOTE: you will have to swap antilock unit or at least the proportioning valve to get correct braking on rear going from v6 drum to disk rear brakes.

Not true. Your thinking of 3 vs 4 channel housings Larry.

If the gear set is 2.73 it has a 2 series carrier. If it has 3.23 or up it has a 3 series carrier.

The flange on a 2 series carrier is 5/16 farther left(in relation to the pinion when installed) than a 3 series carrier. You can use a 2 series carrier with a steeper gear set by going to a "Thick" gear which will have the extra 5/16 of thickness built into the ring gear

Moral of the story is that since you have a rear from a 94+ 6 speed it will have a 3.42 meaning that it a 3 series carrier.
