So when it breaks again you're out another 250-300 towards that 9" you should have bought the 1st time. That doesn't make much sense to me.

What rear is right for me and will handle over 600rwhp? 9" or s60? Called DTS and priced out a S60, it's definitely in my price range and would handle 1000hp but I hear these things are heavier than stock. Don't like adding unsprung weight, could it be bad?

For a daily driver ofcourse that sees that track a handful of times a year!

either will handle the power just fine, both will rob some driveline power and the S60 I believe is heavier but only slightly.

Long as the weight isnt anything really significant, the s60 is fine with me, I'm hearing these things are bullet-PROOF. I'm reading on tech about true-trac 9" breaking on H/C cars though?

Does anyone local build 9" rears?

DTS can build 9" rears and I'm sure there are several others as well but like Mike mentioned most posi units don't seem to last long on high hp stick cars with sticky tires. The wavetrac is bay far the best option but may put you out of budget. I'm not sure how well the posi units in S60s are doing.

I'll have to call them back at DTS and see, I think he told me they only offer 12 bolt or S60 for my car. Yeah, the wavetrac would put me way out of budget but it sounds like the best for my application. Makes me want to hold out until I can afford it.

DTS is a good call....keep the business local is a win!

Guys that are breaking the tru-tracs are weekend racers launching stupid hard over and over. Same guys have broken wav-tracs, but FAR less. For your app, S60 is will be plenty....

Why not a 12-bolt? I had a 12-bolt with a 33-spline Eaton HD Posi living behind 440rwhp (Mustang dyno) and a T56 with no problems. Unless you plan on much higher power than that it was great on the street.

I should be making at least 550rwhp...for now. Pretty much made up my mind on going twin turbo. Should I ever max out the turbos then..? idk 850rwhp? sounds crazy just typing it but I'm just thinking ahead and I only want to buy a rear ONCE.

Honestly, their making it hard for me to even do business with them. The "other" shop they have where they do the performace oriented stuff doesn't have the best customer service. I'm trying to get an understanding of the rear he's recommending for me, asking questions etc., and it was like pulling teeth out to get any type of answer from this dude.

Well hey, you were the one contemplating putting another $500 in the trash, err, into your 10 bolt. When you said a little more power I was thinking like 400-450rwhp since you were still rocking a 10 bolt, lol, in which case a 12 bolt with Eaton HD would be a great option.

Knowing your power level I wouldn't even consider anything other than an aftermarket rear. If you need something to get you by for a little bit, I'd find a hideous $100 junkyard 10 bolt and rock it (gently) until the aftermarket rear gets delivered. At your power level and goals I wouldn't worry about weight, efficiency, etc. I'd get the strongest thing you can afford.

                        Good luck!

I know I'm just trying to avoid the inevitable lol but you're right, I should just get the strongest rear I can afford. I just need it to be very daily driveable too.

arent 12 bolts not good for 6 speed cars?

Get a 9inch and dont look back!
