  • max line pressure for stalled 4L60E & lockup rpm speed

just wondering how high of psi would you go for a stalled 4l60e. supposedly mine is maxed out at the moment due to shift issues during initial tune and it needs to be adjusted now. stock is 175 according to tech, low 200s seem to be what is good but id like some closer to home suggestions lol. thanks

also with the 3500 stall and 3.73 gears, at what speed is good for lockup to engage on a daily driven street car. is this even adjustable? i believe it is. thanks again

Lock it up at 45 or 50 depending on how good your tune is. If it surges go higher.

Yes, lockup is adjustable. I disabled lockup in 3rd, and just had it lock in OD around 45 mph.

Max line pressure up around 200-225 is pretty good. When you get into the 250+ range you cna start running the risk of blowing snap rings straight out of the drum/case.

EDIT: curious to see how you are actually measuring your line pressure? From the port in the drivers side of the case?

Why the heck are you guys locking up so high? Mine locks at 37, no surging or bucking.

^what i was thinking. I know my truck doesnt compare to a cammed car, but it doesnt lock until 40 and it drives me nuts. Its horribly inefficient and thats with a stock stall.

mine locks up at 40mph, under that and I'm sure it would buck and surge.

Even when I had the cammed 5.3 I was locking up at 37, and that car was WAY over cammed.

If I'm driving under 40 I'm probably in stop and go so why would I want to deal with the converter consistently locking and unlocking?

Mine locks at 37 and unlocks at 34 or so. Doesnt seem to be "busy" by any means. IMO

depends on gear, tire size cam , cubes.. the mustang with 3.55 and a 28in tire gets locked at 50. no lock in 3rd
probably gonna try to at 45

mine had to be locked at 55. bucked and surged. tried 45, didnt work, 55 seems perfect?

line pressure adjusted, shift points adjusted, knock sensors deleted. car runs great. now to get it to the track

                          gas mileage is absolutely terrible

What are your cam specs? I didnt think yours was that big? Mileage shouldnt be TOO aweful, and there should be no need to lock up at 55, especially with 3.73s. I would think your tune needs work.

your gas milage problem could be a result of your lean cruise setting/your timing being to retarded/and your lockup. im not much of a tuner but when i had problems like that thats what they did to fix it.

why did you delete you knock sensers? with those in play you can run alittle more advance for better fuel ecmonomy and other things.

Im with spencer i think your tune needs work.
