  • Got myself an 8.8 for cheap!

I just wanted to post pics of the extreme chasis 8.8inch rear I just picked up. I got the whole setup Including Bmr adjustable torque arm, Lower control arms, and a 1 inch swaybar for $1000. The Guy was even nice enough to throw in a 3 inch steel drive shaft to go along with it.

The rear came with ford 9 inch bearing ends, strange spool, Ta Girdle, Chromoly 1350 pinion yoke, and moser 31 spline axles. Ill be installing ford motorsports 4.30 gears.

the first ones were done like that, I believe he added more bracing down the line. That pic is actually 8.8s that a LS1tech member used to make himself. The extreme chasis 8.8s are slightly different. I've heard both are pretty strong though.

My torque arm mount is welded on just like the one above so I think Cam and Extreme Chassis did it the exact same way for a short time. It looks pretty strong it was in a 9 sec car so Im sure its fine.

I agree I'm thinking Cam may have been affiliated with them and once they stopped he did them on the side, mind you this is all speculation but either way they seem to have a great rep.

Once I get mine done I would kind of like to start making them on the side. Do you have the 8.8 end caps or the 9" ones, Jeff? I looked it up and they use a giant alignment dowel that sticks all the way through the rear to get the caps lined up to weld, do you think a shorter one that slips into the axle tube would work?

Sure would be nice to have a tig welder

I have 8.8 ends, the 9" would be nice and eliminate the c-clips but it was easier to keep the 8.8 ones. I'm not sure how you could use a shorter alignment tool for the ends though unless it somehow attached to the center section and did one axle tube at a time.
