  • What Shifter (short throw) Do You Have?

Trying to decide between the Pro5-0, MGW and Hurst Billet... any others to consider? What's your experience with any of them?

I'm looking for the most solid, smoothest one out there. The ones in newer corvettes and camaros are so easy and smooth, trying to get as close as possible to that.

EDIT: This is for a LS1, T56 transmission

I have a pro 5.0 with a UMI shortstick. Gonna cut it way down over break. Not exactly a smooth feeling but very solid and the shifts feel perfect.

    Used to own a Firebird.

If you want smooth, youre looking for a stock shifter

here is a demonstration of a Pro 5.0 / Pistol Grip combo:

I want something with a shorter throw though... lol. The stock hurst is terrible for me on the 2-3 shift

Nice shiftin tho! Makes me anxious for spring...

shorter than stock, think a shorter stick would make a difference?

Sure, stock handle is a golf club. But I'd only suggest that if smoothness is really what you want... Id rather have a hurst or pro 5.0 personally.

i have a hurst and a umi short stick. if you wanna hold off you can drive mine once nice weather hits and my cars insured.

can have a pistol grip or a 6speed ball on it either way too.

edit: DISCLAIMER***** my car is a lt1 so you might feel your mullet grow when you sit in the driver seat.

Hurst Billet Plus with Lou's Short Stick and NASCAR 50th Anni Shift Ball.
The Lou's Short Stick (LSS) mimics the original Billet Plus stick (angles back and towards the driver) except it's shorter.

I would have no problem letting you drive it Fred.
I'll also add that since the LSS reduces leverage I removed one of the centering springs in the shifter too make it less notchy and easier to throw.
