The axle I will be getting comes with a 35 spline truetrac. For another 70 bucks they will put in a mechanical locker. Car is a street driven car. So keep the truetrac or get the locker?

get the locker. People with M6 cars refer to the truetrac as "truecrap"Originally posted by Fox Slaughter View PostThe axle I will be getting comes with a 35 spline truetrac. Well I guess that solves that. Locker it is. Under straight-line acceleration a locker acts like a spool correct? Then when in turns it unlocks the wheel that's spinning faster than the center? Correct?Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. Yeah pretty much sums it up. I have a locker in my car and it doesnt feel really any different than the stock 10 bolt. If you try to do some tight figure 8s in a parking lot you might notice it, but how often is that lolOriginally posted by Fox Slaughter View PostWell I guess that solves that. Locker it is. I also like the idea how I have total piece of mind of a locker that I know the car is spinning both tires equally. Normal LSD's can slip or vary power to one side more or even totally wear out and do a one wheel peel.
IMO the choice is locker hands down

I was blowing .14 then took a shot of vodka and blew a .4 rofl like I blew into it right after since it detects the alcohol on your breath.

Locker + 6 speed = PITA. I have gotten used to mine but most people that drive my car have a very hard time with it.Originally posted by Fox Slaughter View PostThe axle I will be getting comes with a 35 spline truetrac. A locker like a Detroit is torque activated. When throttle is applied it locks. So when driving a stick they tend to snap crackle and pop a bit as it can unlock between gears. Not harmful to the locker but annoying.Originally posted by 1999Black_Z28 View PostLocker + 6 speed = PITA. I have gotten used to mine but most people that drive my car have a very hard time with it.

never had to deal with this with mine. Are you speaking from experience or is it just down the grapevine from tech?Originally posted by c0ncEpT View PostA locker like a Detroit is torque activated. Experence. I have a Jeep remember? I have lunchbox lockers front and rear in my Jeep which work the same way as a Detroit. With an auto you cant even tell its there unless your making a tight turn while accelerating.Originally posted by ThreeHonks View Postnever had to deal with this with mine. A few of my buddies have Detroits in there trucks and there the same way. You would never even know its back there.
Now on the other hand a have a friend with a Wrangler who has a 5 speed and Detroits and his snaps and pops so much its embarressing sometimes.
Its nothing thats hurting it but its enough to be annoying.
