  • 94 lt1 re-build

My buddy has decided to rebuild his lt1 this winter,His current setup runs 12.10s on motor, but we noticed that #1 cylinder has developed blow by..So with that being said,he wants to build a forged bottom end.I am looking for prices and suggestions for him. This is not a dd,but sees alot of the drag strip.Any and all suggestions appreciated. He wants to go all forged just incase it he decideds to slap a charger on it.

In my opinion your asking the wrong people. You need to be talking a reputable machine shop/engine re builder.

Yes there are many knowledgeable people on this site. But he should talked to a few engine re builders and go with the person/shop that he is most comfortable with, not who is the least expensive.

I did not say anything about "who is the cheapest"I am asking for suggestions on componets,ie crank,rods,pistons..I already told him to use arp hardware through out the motor..Keep in mind, when he puts the charger on it,it will go faster than 14s..lol..Fred you know who I am talking about.

Sorry you got that impression, I was just making a suggestion so he will have a successful engine rebuild experience. As far as parts I would talk to the builder about that as well. Sometime they stock parts, and sometime they can get the same price as summit. I would rather give the small business some money verus Summit.

Sorry if I took this in the wrong direction.

No problem,My first thought was to contact K-tech,but i hear they wont build any lt1s anymore..I am going to give Automotive Machine a call in the morning and see what they suggest.

If he is serious I would talk to Denny at Booth Aaron in Berkley. He knows his stuff, He built the motor in my chevelle and If I rebuild mt LT1 he will be doing it.
