  • Metal Shavings Anyone???

Well I started to disassemble the tranny to see if I could see what was wrong with it and this is what I found upon removing the slave clutch...

A few of the slave clutch itself...

And 1 inside the tranny...the case is cracked under the biggest gear on the bottom set...(couldn't get a good pic to show)

I really have no idea but I think that the bottom set of gears hit the case for some reason (still have to disassemble the tail section) and when that happened it tweaked the shaft ever so slightly and because of that it wore the slave to do what it did...Any opinions are welcome as I am puzzled how the case got cracked and the slave wore funny and cracked open...good news is the shavings didn't go in the case...bad news is my wallet is already crying with the thought of the repair bill oh well good reason to go into debt!!! Probably end up sending it to Tick Shift Performance for a little tune up

the cases normally look like they have cracks.
          is the input bearing/shaft toast?
bet there isnt really anything wrong
          who built that?

So when were you coming over??? LOL...JK!

I found some more carnage when I took off the tail section...can anyone tell me what the two pieces are from??? The metal piece was on the bottom and the plastic piece was lodged in with the other gear (pic #1)...Maybe if someone recongnizes those two pieces I can save some tear down...lol well hopefully anyway...

My recommendation is to go with Libertys Gears in Detroit. Cheaper than tick, and awesome quality work. There are a few others on this site that will vouch for their work. And yes. that is gonna be expensive, figure on at least $1000
