will a stock 4th gen shifter fit a 3rdgen car?
I need a automatic with OD for my 83.
I have the plate just need the shifter and cable will they work out of a 4th gen or do I have to have one out of a 3rdgen?

I think that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. gen shifters are interchangeable...over from the TH350 to the 700r4 but I'm not sure. Once you get to the 4th gen it's the 4l60e, which may be completely different. I'd try doing a search to cross-reference part numbers between the different years.
