  • Libertys Gears Feedback? Good or Bad

    Hey guys,

Looking to get my trans rebuilt, and wondering if anyone had any feedback on them? He quoted me right around 700, which is lower than anyone else, and they seem to be fairly well known, which is a good thing to me.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

Are these the guys in the southern burbs? Livonia maybe? Sorta by the airport?

If so, they are outstanding...I know a couple of SCCA guys that use them exclusively for their trans builds.

When I was traveling back and forth, East-West sides of the state, I would ferry a few transmissions for them.

Dirty, grungy place, but they knew their stuff...last time I was there they were building a trans for a nostalgic, front-mount, Hemi dragster for a Chrysler exec.

how much does all that faceplating and stuff cost round about, and what does it make the trans drive like. Do you have to hold it in gear like the old pro shifted 4 speeds in the 70s? Thanks Eric L

don't have to hold a faceplated in gear.
on the street you double clutch them.
clutch is still used at wot. the more rpm the better and the faster you yank the better

Yea I checked up on D&D. Tried a few times to call them, and tell them what I wanted done, and they wouldn't give me a straight forward answer on how much it was gonna be. Everyone else would, but D&D made it seem like I should be so privileged to have them work on my stuff, and price shouldn't matter. Idk, they kinda rubbed me the wrong way, so i kept on shopping, lol.
