  • Modifying my torque arm

Well since the car was a V6 and is now a V8, I am not going with a 700r4 but a 2004r, cause of price and availability, plus the 200 can go behind my BBB when I am done with it in the firebird.. so Dual purpose fo r me.

ANyways I bought a swap over cross member for it but lost all the funds I had cause of slow work and wife losing job.

SO I am trying to figure out how to modify my stock torque are(a 4th gen) to work. I do not wanna weld anything to my new crossmember cause when the car is all said and done I will be able to pull it out and either sell it or reuse it on something else..

BUT if all else fails I will do whatever is needed.. any suggestions or has anyone done one ?

Any pics of a tail shaft of a 200? that may help.

B&M and Hurst both make kits to mount your torque arm to a plate that bolts to the tailshaft housing. It costs $100. I just did one this week and I'll tell you they suck ass compared to an aftermarket Torque arm and crossmember.. BUT it does work

is Hawks and Spohn the only people who make aftermarket Torque arms?

I also found out that buying the torque arm I need it comes with the cross member included.. Boy do I feel stupid for buying that separately.. Wonder if I called spohn if they would let me trade this one back in or buy a torque arm separately?

yeah I saw those, just was not sure about them yet, but if I have to buy one of those I still have to buy a torque arm.. All I have is a stock one. So I figured for the money and what they are getting for those I might as well buy a complete set up..

Plus for 100 bucks more I can have a new torque arm as well.. I think thats gonna be the way I go, but either way I have to raise the cash.

but I will check them out and see whats gonna be the best.. thanks for the info guys, it helps..

what are your plans for the car?
if you don't plan on auto cross or road race get a short TA
