I recently acquired a spare 700r4 for free (yay?), and I plan to have it rebuilt and thrown in with the engine on swap day. It looks like it was salvaged from the ocean floor, but it should do the trick.
I'm starting to get quotes from local shops on a overhaul of the insides, a shift kit install, and a 2000 stall. However, I came to the realization that each shop might have a different idea of what constitutes a 'rebuild'. So, in the interest of getting standardized quotes, what should I be looking for/requesting when it comes to 'refreshing the innards'?
I'd like mostly new parts inside, as I think it defeats the purpose to rebuild if you are keeping parts that 'look okay'. The transmission needs to handle about 480hp/450ftlbs.
Thanks for your help, as automatic transmissions are as mysteriuous to me as the inside of the girls' locker room
So far, I have gotten a quote for $825, and another guy that thought he could rip me off said it would be $1800, with a $900 converter(!) wtf!
