Synthetic ATF in transfer case

I'm trying to switch all the fluids in my truck (96 Chevy 2500) to synthetic. However, I was told that by putting a synthetic in the transfer case, that because it doesn't have viton (sp) seals that it would start leaking. Can anyone give me feedback on this? Thanks

Viton is used mostly for valve stem seals. It has better sealing aulities and leak less due to I believe a firmer seal. Anyway, I'm not too sure changing what the trans calls for as far as fluid is going to gain any benefits or make the risk worth it. Judging from synthetic's lower friction qualities, I really wouldn't want to lessen the friction that the trans uses (I'm assuming this is an automatic). The disks and band need as much grip as possible in order to work correctly and if there's an additive that is causing a slip, the friction material will heat up and start to fail. Of course, this may lead to the viton seals failing due to increased heat. Just a theory though.
