  • Identifying an unknown transmission?

Allright, so I bought an 85 T/A that has had a 355 installed. I took a look at the tranny, and it doesn't appear to be stock, it looks different than the one in my 86, anyway. So how do I determine wht this thing is? I assume there are code numbers somewhere on it, but where? How do I decode them when I find em?

    is it a 3 speed or a 4 speed ?

    it could be a th350, th400, th200R4 or 700R4

if you cant find # on it look at the pan
