  • t56 rebuild?

i'm sure this has been discussed somewhere in here before but i couldn't find it so i'll bring it up. problems are growing with my t56 in my '01 ss and i know of some places in north carolina that do rebuilds and upgrades and was wondering if anyone knew of resonably priced places in michigan that do good work. i figure if i'm going to have it torn apart why not beef it up while i'm at it.
    i appreciate the help.

Would the place in North Carolina be Tick Performance?

I believe Liberty is the best around.

How much does it cost to rebuild a T56/ strengthen it up?

i think the 93-94 are the weakest.
for a normal build you just replace synchroes, blockers and possible a few gears if the synchro surface is damaged. fork pads and keys are about the normal upgrades

My rebuild cost $900 ("level 2" package which included beefed up internals) + $220 round trip shipping, but that didn't include all the supporting stuff I threw at it to go along with it, like new clutch/master and slave cylinders/flywheel resurfacing/etc etc. The little stuff adds up quick, It ended up coming to about $1800 all said and done to get my car shifting perfectly again at high throttle. And even with that it still doesn't like 4th gear cold, unfortunately I couldn't take advantage of the warranty since I had just moved into an apartment and no longer had access to a garage to tear it back apart again

Yeah tick was what I was thinking. I have heard good things about them.
I'll definately check into Liberty but may just end up tackling it myself. Never had one apart but I'm pretty mechanically inclined for the most part.
I see on The Gear Box's website they have kits. Anyone use them?
