  • 94 Trans Am axle in my 98 Z28?

Looking at putting a 94 Trans Am axle in my 98 Z28
    The TA was a LT1 - 6 speed
My Z28 is Auto w/ ASR and ABS

If not, are the parts inside interchangeable?
Something inside my 10 bolt is toast (horrible noises during deceleration, 25mph and down)

I heard about the 3 / 4 channel thing, don't know anything about that, so I couldn't tell you what my axle is

All I know is both are 10 bolts out of 350ci f-bodies, one m6 one a4.

    Thanks

It has to be the same 3/4 channel as yours. This is easily determined, if you have TCS or ASR you have a 4 channel if not then its a 3 channel.

So do I have to use a 4 channel axle? (My car has ASR)

or can I use a 3 channel parts in my axle? Or should I just find a 4 channel axle?

One other thing to consider, the gear ratio's are different. The auto is a 3:23 and the manual is a 3:42. Your going to have recalibrate the speedometer, if you care to do so. Just a thought!Rick

i believe if you have a 4 channel you need to replace it with one, or lose your ASR.

Just got word the donor car had both ASR and ABS

So I should be all set, I'll be recalibrating the speedo via EFI Live

So can I just use the stock brake brackets off of my axle? or do I need custom ones? Or can the 94 brackets be modified easily to make work?

My car has a 3.73 currently anyways.
Not sure what is messed up inside..... I just know it's not drivable anymore. Well it is, but makes loud horrible noises.

Is it possible it could be just the gear? or no?

Got the axle today..... anyone know if the 94 lt1 axle is wider than a 98 ls1?

And anyone know how to get the 98 brakes to fit a 94 axle?

                    thx

Read my earlier post, i said you have to change the brackets for the brakes lol.

there the same width exactly, 10 bolt to 10 bolt.

So I can just use the brackets from my 98 axle? They bolt right up?

Didn't think that was possible on either end. I thought the only A4 cars that had factory 3.42's were those optioned V6 cars. And all M6 cars had a 3.42 unless it was a 93' in which case it had a 2.73
