My brand new rear end is giving me fits. First of all, the posi sucks ass. On nearly every launch, it would spin the passenger side tire and kill my 60' time. There's no reason it should allow spin that easy. I guess I need to get an airbag in there, but I still don't think it should break loose so easily. I couldn't get under a 1.96 60' time on ET Street radials. Then after I headed home, my ring and pinion was making a LOT more noise than when I got it fixed last time. Guess I get to go back to DTS again to get it fixed. I'm pretty upset that I spent $2500 on a rearend that has given me nothing but trouble since I bought it. I'm glad they'll stand behind their product, but having to drive an hour each way and waste my day off getting this thing fixed is absurd. I will add - the DA today was about 2400' and there was a 25 MPH headwind, so that would effect my ET/MPH some, but dropping 5 MPH was kind of disheartening.
I lost almost 2 mph when I switched from my 10bolt to my 9inch. I am down almost 3 mph now with my steel driveshaft and LS7 clutch. It sucks but it's all part of the game. I wish you the best of luck on Wednesday

Now I don't feel so bad, lol. I took it back to DTS today and they pulled the posi out to verify it wasn't defective and it's in perfect shape. The breakaway torque was so high that they could barely get it to break loose from one side to the other. Not only that, but my pinion angle was about 2.4 degrees downward from optimum so it was probably unloading the tires on launch. Just need to install my airbag and get back to the track tomorrow to see if it improves. My rearend noise has diminished somewhat, but if it doesn't get better after another 1000 miles I'm taking it back and having them install another set of gears. Different brand and ratio, of course.
