  • The clutch is starting to slip...... :(

So i noticed about a week ago that hard shifting at WOT was NOT grabbing. It took a second to grab and I went uh oh. Not if It is slipping bad in 6th if I put more throttle then it should get. NOT GOOD. SO there goes my cam plans.

Any suggesitons. My centerforce dual friction was VERY good to me. I will NOT go with Spec 3. Any other suggestions? i'm up for something new!

I did alot of research on clutches when i was doing mine and I recomend the Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch. Thats what I got and I LOVE IT, it grabs like a mother, no chatter, and no horror stories about it. I found many many horror stories about spec clutches. all in all i love my centerforce

I have a centerforce dual friction clutch for my 1980 Z28. First day with it in the car, I tore 1rst gear right out of the tranny on a launch. Keep in mind, it was a saginaw 4 speed which are known to be fairly weak, however, the stock clutch put many hard launches through that tranny and I never had a problem, till it started slipping anyway. Point is, for my money, I'd buy a Centerforce dual friction in a heartbeat, and I wouldn't even consider anything else. Well worth the money.

Oh, and I now have a Muncie M-20 to go behind that clutch. Its heavier than the Saginaw tranny was and the saginaw was a cast iron case, the muncie is aluminum!!! The gears in the muncie fill the case, the saginaw, I could put my hand in there completely with room to move. Anyway, just had to share that.

I've heard good things about Ram clutches for LS1s/LT1s. Might be worth investigating.
