There is a metal tag on the back of the pumkin that gives you the gear ratio. That is unless its been messed with and removed.

BTW guys In `93 there were two different 6 speed gearboxes one for 3.23 geared cars and one for 2.73's.
In `94 GM went to one T56 Gearbox and used the Skip shift for the first time allowing the use of the steeper 3.42 gears in the rear

I know my '82 Z had 2.73 gears from the factory with a Metric 200C trans. It was bone stock down to the Cross-Fire injection, so I know it had never been changed.

EDIT: Were you the guy that was getting 3.73s put in? If you have the stock ring and pinion and are just curious, you can count teeth and divide to find out.

DOUBLE EDIT: Just went to yuor intro post, and saw that you were talking about skip shift, which means you have a 6 speed, which means you have skip shift

Yeah, I'm the guy that's having the 3.73 put in, and yes it's a six speed trans. I did get that stupid skip shift taken care of a few years back. From talking to a fifth gen.owner who has a manual trans. Skip shift is alive and well in the new camaro. If I get the old pinion and ring gear back, I'll be sure and count the teeth. It's going to run about a grand to have rearend done.

My car is auto with the c 200 metric also, however on the highway at exactly 70 M.P.h. my R.P.M.'s are over 3000 so i assumed it was a bigger gear than stock?

Well, one the of the neat things with the six speed trans. At 70 mph the engine was only turning 1800 rpm. Hence the really good highway gas mileage. I can't wait to see what the new rearend will do under the same conditions. If the stock rearend was a 3.42, it shouldn't be much of a difference. I just want to get alittle more juice, when I race young whipper snapper's in their Mustangs. Like my son in-law! LOL!!

why would you go 3.73 in a 6 speed car? sounds like a waste of time... and skip shift isnt that bad when your accelerating hard it doesnt turn on, but driving around town i shift 1-3-5-6 anyway

In an LT1 car, a 3.73 would feel like a 4.10, at least in first gear. I know LT1 T56s have a 2.97 first gear, whereas the LS1 T56 has a 2.66 first gear. Overall first gear for an LT1 with 3.73s is 11.07 and 4.10s in an LS1 is 10.90. I would think 4.10s in an LT1 might be too much.

                                I had 3.23's before I swaped out my 10 bolt for a 9" and I have a M6.
