  • Clutch Master Cylinder Replacment

Tuesday on my way into work i started having problems downshifting and couldnt get it into gear when i came to a complete stop. So I replaced the master cylinder, bench bled it and then went throught a pint of fluid trying to bled the slave cylinder. I am pretty sure it is completly bled and now i cant get it into gear at all WTF, is there something i did wrong? BTY i did the restrictor drill mod could that be my problem, there is no leaks any where and when i bled the slave cylinder there is a good gush of fluid but when I start the car i cant get it into gear.
hopefully some one has a suggestion

Slave? I thought that usually problems with sticky pedal were usually Master issues, and problems with gear changing is slave. I'm not 100% on this though.

Yeah I had the problem of the pedal sticking too. I was wondering if it was the slave that was actually my first thought but some friends told me it was the master.

Have you put the skip shift mod on? check all the plugs on the drivers side of trans. The 6 speed has actuators to lock out shifts. Have you had to jump battery lately maybe ecm. is problem not the clutch.

I did get under there and saw that the skip shift actuator was disconnected. I am in the process of wiring up the amps so I did disconnect the battery. But this problem started before I disconnected the battery, but the battery did on me last week when i was listening to the radio working on some other things. Has anyone had problems bleeding the clutch? as I read through some other foums I think it is still not bleed all the way, the clutch pedal feels kinda spongy. I went and bought a MightyVac and am gonna try This

Well after a week of aggrivation, research and suggestion I did what I should have done in the first place I ordered an Adjustable Master Cylinder from Tick Performance http://www.tick-performance.com/tick...dy/hydraulics/. Hopefully this fixes my problems. From what i read it should also help in power shifting too. I have only had the car for a month but it has always been kinda hard too shift, at first I thought it was the Tranny Fluid or the syncros but after all the reading I think this has been my problem all along. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope she will be back on the road next week.

Ok so I got my Tick Performance Adjustable Master Cylinder in this week, Put it on the car and I can shift again.... Kinda. Ive messed with the adjustment and Its to the spot if I adjust it any farther the clutch pedal wont engage the starter safty switch and if i go the other way It wont shift. It is really hard to get it into reverse and downshift. And when I have my foot on the clutch It sounds like the clutch is still grabbing and if it is in gear every once and a while the car will jerk forward. So was my problem possibly the Slave cylinder all along? I guess am going to drop the tranny but wanted to get some suggestions.

It's always good to at least try the master cyl since it's easier (well, less time involved than moving the trans out of the way to get to the slave anyway), but if that doesnt do the trick then definitely go for the slave cyl. I'd almost guarantee that replacing that will fix all of your shifting problems; it did mine.

Just wanted to post an update. I put the Tick perfromance master cylinder in and i was able to shift again but still had problems. for about a week It was really hard to get into reverse and had a strange noise when the Clutch was pressed in. Last thursday while I was driving around I started having the problem where It wouldnt go into gear at all for about 20 minutes. Then it started working and I dont have any problems shifting and the noise is gone. There must have been an Air bubble or something in the line that worked its way out.

Well I was going throught some of my old posts and thought I would update the situation for anyone's future reference. Just before i was going to put the car up for the winter last year I started having major clutch problems again same as before come to a stop and couldnt get the car into gear. So I decided that I would pull the transmission replace the slave cylinder and check the clutch. After I pulled the Trans I found my problem the rivots that hold the clutch together had busted and half the springs were missing/broken causing the friction material plate to be loosing and causing all my problem. So I Put in in Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch and All my problems were solved. Now after the break in period i can actuall get on it through all the gears and it shifts perfect!
