Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Help/Opinion on problems with trans/rear differential
Help/Opinion on problems with trans/rear differential
so first off my transmission has trouble going from 2nd to third and i have to really jump on it to get it to shift and over the winter i was driving and i though i blew the trans but the shop is now tellin me its my rear differential because the drive shaft is moving but the tires arent could that have anything to do with the trans sticking or any opinion on what to do
thanks
ryan
umm...don't really know if the problems in the rear would cause the trans to not shift correctly. but if the DS is spinning and the wheels aren't...definitely blew the rear end. you could have also blown the rear because of a problem with the trans. could work both ways. no way for the shop to tell what went wrong really until the get both opened up would be my guess. someone should know tho.
thanks pontiac for the info
jw how much do you think the shop is gonna charge me if i blew the rear end?
honestly, no idea. haha. but my guess would be that it is a lot cheaper than having the trans rebuilt. all depends what you broke in the rear probably. but i would guess 100-200 in parts??? another 100-200 in labor??? just a ballpark. if it is the rear end tho, you might want to throw in a 4.11 gear (i think that's what most guys recommend for auto trannys)
