Has the 6 speed. New syncro's. Seems to hang up and will not go into 1st from a standstill. Also hangs up once in a while for reverse. Brand new Hurst Comp Plus shifter - don't think shifter is it. Maybe low fluid? Clutch adjustment seems fine. Anybody have something similar?

Maybe you're just not giving it enough gas. . . FLOOR IT!!! lol I had the same problem in my 5-speed, it ended up being low fluid. The T5 is referred to commonly as a "slushbox" because the viscosity of the fluid is what slows down the gears enough for you to be able to shift it into gear. . . Don't know much about the 6-speeds though. . . Not too hard to add fluid if you have access to a lift, but it's a b**** if you have to do it with a floor jack and a creeper in the driveway like I did. . . lol Hope that helps somehow!Nick H.

nick, it's not hard at all to top off the T56's...just pull your center counsil out, and take the shifter off, and you can just fill it up there....
as for not getting into first or reverse,
reverse is pretty common with these cars from what i understand, just cause it's so far to the right to get it in.
first gear possibly is your shift fork bent? my 3-4 shift fork was a bit bent, and it made for a hell of a time in 3rd...?
easy fix would be check the fluids though. i think the T56's take just under 4 qt's of ATF

I had a bit of a problem with getting the console out, most of the bolts/screws are rusted in. . . I had to fill using the fill hole on the right side of the trans. . . It was a pain. It still doesn't allow for easy shifting or anything. Sorry to sound stupid. . . I don't have a T56, I have a T5. . . SorryNick H.
