  • Detroit Locker - Differentials

I found what I was looking for. Tell me what you think. It is called the Detroit TrueTrac Differential. Someone told me I could use this in place of a Z28 Rear end.

Do you have a 12 bolt? I'm not sure they make one for a 10 bolt.

no hes got the stock 10 bolt rear but is looking for an upgrade that may be cheaper than a rear end out of a T/A or Z28.

Ohh, unless he's fairly proficient at installing gears on a 10 bolt it would be cheaper to find a complete rear out of a V8 powered F-body.

i paid 80 bux for my rear axle i have in myc ar righ tnow. its off a m6 z28 from 97 with 40k miles on the rear end the gears i opened the back and looked at it everything was mint. there was the right amount of play in everything.
i basicallys tole it for 80 bux.

there is a place that sells them from a bone yard with 3.42 lsd's but you dont knw what your getting till after you get it.
and the shipping will kill you.
but it sstill cheaper then doing gears/diff. install.

ya if you have ever put a new gear set together you know its not fun... and alot of times you have to shim them to work and if its not perfect... blows right up... best bet is to find a complete axel then all you have to do is bolt it in bleed the brakes and adjust the speedo.

detroit tru trac is for road racing and such. I wanted to get one and I talked to the detroit locker guy at Martin raceway and he said that it would most likely break doing drag racing and such, it doesn't withstand the shock of a launch. Just if you ever were to launch your car.
