i only have 2 jegs books and i can't find a date on either one of them. i have a books sent just before christmas and that PN is 411.99 and the other one has a yellow cobalt drag car on the front of it listing for 406.99. jegs must suck at updating their prices or that clutch set skyrocketed in price recently. i do know the one book is from december of 08 though. well the spec II is only 449.99 with free shipping, so the spec II it is i suppose unless you can match that price for clutch set. gonna spend the money one way or another, i'd rather toss it to a member on here if i can.

But anyway, my price on the ram unit is 425.99 + Mi tax
I can get it for you and you come pick it up, or we could meet half way one day, or you could pay for shipping. Doesnt matter to me.

on the topic of those springs...

are those there to absorb negative driveline shock? That is the assumption ive always had.

There are tons of people that really dont know what they are doing when it comes to driving a manual transmission and if thats the case I could see those springs being a bit of a problem considering the bite of those clutches. Ive had no issues with mine, but im the guy that is always heal-toeing my downshifts so they are seemless.

I am happy with my Spec 3... it chirps 4th consisently if that tells you anything. The driveability issues I expected.

The only complaint I had was their instructions for break in. I drove it around gingerly for a 1000 miles with it chattering my teeth out. I was wasting my time. Turns out you need to break it in by beating the hell out of it. Which is what i did after i got sick of the chatter. A good 3K RPM drop with 4 people in the car and some powershifting she was 60% smoother the next day

            Creight,

i can deffinately do that for the ram clutch. coloma is about an hour from here so i can come pick it up too. just have to let me know when you can get it and when is a convenient time for you. one of our body guys at the shop lives in coloma, maybe i can convince him to pick it up for me possably.

If my "theory" about the springs is correct, a hard down shift (with negative driveline force) is probably all it would take to crush the hell out of those springs. Drag radials would make it worse, which I know he had.

false. If he didnt he had the BFGs that look exactly the same.

like I said. my spec has over 20k on it. It was rated for 500hp I think.
I launch at 5500-6000 on slicks in a 4000lb car that makes 650 at the tire.
The nitrous is on when I launch. It held fine until the last track day of the year. That thing has taken a crazy amount of abuse. with the spool I have to slip the clutch alot while street driving to make sharp turns and all

Ill just assume youre right then. wasnt really the point anyway, you wouldnt need DRs to break those springs.

Ive also beat on mine quite a bit, but not nearly what larry has done.

here is evidence of my bolt on car chirping 4th, not even powershifting (i never powershift):
