Shift kits are always a good idea. And the hard shift is actually easier on the trans. As far as what kind, I can only recommend what one not to buy. Fairbanks kits suck, and their support is worse. Good Luck!

well would a shift it help with 2nd gear acting up some?? accelin ligtly it kinda goes up and down for a second then goes and hits 3rd but if i get on it some 2nd hits fine, but it feels fine while it hits normal, just kinda feels like its slippin a little when accelerating lightly like theres nt enough pressure on the bands

It's unlikely
that the shift kit will fix the 2nd gear problem. It sounds like the 2-4 band is down to the bonding rivets (very common).

It's all about Volume!! I suspect the band is wore down, which does 2 things. 1. increases the distance the servo has to move to apply the band. 2. the band and the surface it rides on is probably shot which doesn't grab too well once applied.
Back to Volume. The further the servo has to travel, the more volume of fluid will be required. At real slow speeds, the pump really can't afford to be giving away extra volume and the pressure isn't as high as say wide open throttle, so the shift becomes LAZY to non-exsistant at slow speeds.
When the band gets finished off, it will start sliding bad to a neutral out feeling at wide open throttle. Then you will know it's time to seek help.
Mike.
