it will but i beleive you need a lt1 t56 as the ls1 style won;t bolt right up

Yep...been done thousands of times.....just get a LT1 t56 and a GenI conversion flywheel from Centerforce or Mcleod. I had one for a few years sitting behind a 70's era 350 and Project DZ74 has one sitting behind it's 70's era LT motor.

t56 is bold up to 87 and up 1 piece rear main engines, as james said, need a new conversion flywheel is using a 2 piece rear main engine. i think the LS1 T56 has the same bellhouisng bolt pattern, but is 2 inches shorter or something, or so i read on thirdgen.org....i'd double check that route if you found one.

the LT1 T56 is rated for 450, not sure if they take more or not to blow them up.

Depends on how you drive it. Some guys thrash and trash a t-56 behind a stock motor....other's can make them last behind 500+hp motors.
