3400 Codes

My monte has a 3400 in it and im clueless.

Ever since I bought the car it has thrown this code, I replaced both o2 sensor and am running out of ideas, does anyone else know what this could be? I have PCMSCAN and an obd2 interface on my laptop so I can scan or check everything myself and everything seems in order but it still throws this code after clearing it. The car gets TERRIBLE gas mileage and has 150,000 on it and was not maintained well by the previous owner if that helps.

Ive been fighting this code for MONTHS if anyone has ANY info please help!

O yeah, P0030 - Heated oxygen sensor Heater Control Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

if you replaced them and still have problems you most likely have a problem in the heater circuit for the o2 sensor. i forget what wires they are but get a service manule and check the wireing diagrams. you probaly go a open wire.
that would render your o2 basicly useless causing the bad mileage.

Well, im getting readings from both sensors, and there is power to both sensors.

but doest the heater part have power? thats what the code is for

I dont really know how to check it, I just grounded a test light and tried all the pins and there was power at one of them.

you need power at two of them you need to get a wireing diagram and find which one you need

actualy how many wires is it 3 or 4

Its a 4 wire sensor, ill check out the haynes manual wiring diagram when I get out of work.

well if you have four wires 2 are for the heater. and if only one has power that mean you have a open some were on the power wire. so figure out which wire that is and start tracing it back

Ill check it when I get home, but it has an orange, purple, black, and brown. The orange is a power wire for sure.

On ls1's its the eng sens fuse. Yours might be the same
