As many of you may know, the V6 F-Bodies were plagued from the factory with an awful open differential. This may be all fine and dandy for most, but for people who like to go fast (such as myself), it just doesn't cut it.
Well I went ahead and solved that problem this weekend, by finally swapping in the '94 Z28 unit that's been taking up space in my shed. The year difference ('98-'94) made the swap a bit more challenging, requiring that I pull the axles from both rear ends in order to swap over my drum-in-disk parking brake to the older rear. Honestly though, it went a lot easier than I was expecting. I didn't run into many stubborn rusted bolts and things generally just went well.
I couldn't be happier that I did the swap. Launches are better, and I can roast both tires evenly now.
By the way, if anyone needs a crappy open-diff 10-bolt, come and get it.
