Right around 55lbs of pressure at idle, up to 80lbs at high rpm usually stays at a steady 70-75 durring driving operation. Started using the higher weight when I added all the other internals like retro fit roller setup/rev kit ect, main reason is just because its higher reving. I wanted the extra protection from the newly added heat and stress. Most SBC dont go much far beyond 5,500 rpm.

Whoa..your original posts never said you where revving the snot out of it...that changes things. I was assuming you were getting foaming at normal engine operating speeds.
You have a windage control problem and your oil pump is not helping....high volume and high pressure pumps are WAY overkill for a SBC....you should have a standard volume/high pressure unit in there instead. You are pumping you pan about dry...the heads are not likely allowing the oil to drain back fast enough. Do you get oil splashing out of your breather?sigpicTurbo Charged LS1/T56

Thats what i was thinking at first too, thats why i tossed on the new oil pan last time. I had oil pressure all over the place shooting up down at all RPM's. since the new oil pan though this hasn't been a problem with my regular oil.Originally posted by WMCCjames View PostWhoa..your original posts never said you where revving the snot out of it...that changes things. The Vr-1 is anti foaming so maybe it's doing the same thing and just tricking me because its not foaming up. The heavier weight is bound to stay uptop longer than the lighter syntetic. I'll give jegs a call and give a high pressure only pump a shot.Originally posted by Frank The TankTook the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. But it's not exactly street legal, so keep it on the down low.

Just get the standard volume melling oil pump and buy the "Z28" pressure spring....Moroso sells the spring...it's white if I remember correctly. I would start there.....if you don't have a crank scraper, now might be a good time to install one while you have the bottom end open. I'm gussing that you will be able to run a more normal weight oil after those few changes....instead of trying to compensate with high oil weights.Originally posted by wezeles View PostThats what i was thinking at first too, thats why i tossed on the new oil pan last time. Another question......are you still running an oil pressure bypass spring on the filter adapter?sigpicTurbo Charged LS1/T56

Honestly I never looked, I'll check it out while I have it ripped apart.
I have never had an issue with filthy oil but could still be in bypass. This is the first time I messed with any type of high pressure pump so I didn't know what to expect from it.
I'll tone back the oil weight when I change out the pump. They keep about 3 different weights of Royal Purple at my local autozone one was a 10w40 so I'll give that a shot.Originally posted by Frank The TankTook the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. http://www.mifbody.com/vbulletin/sho...1&postcount=30Originally posted by WMCCjamesI put a brand new GM crate motor in a guy's blazer for him. This was about 20K miles ago...(3 years) well he brought it back to me this winter to do some more upgrades to it and fix a intake leak. So I had to pull off the intake to replace the gasket and was shocked by the amount of caked on oil residue on EVERYTHING. It was aweful....this motor has had nothing but RP in it since break in....and the guy that owns it religiously changes the oil at 3K miles....even though it's synthetic....yes he has money to burn. Anyways...I showed him what the inside of his motor looked like and he about crapped his pants...as did I. Even the cast roller rockes were coated with this brown burnt oil film. Sad really.Western Michigan Camaro Club ~ President

Tossed in the new oil pump and it seemed to fix the problem thanks James!
Now its at about 45-50lbs of pressure all the time wiht no fluxuation at all and only dips down at idle. Also no foaming at all that I could tell. Using Mobile 1 5w40. Thanks again guys.Originally posted by Frank The TankTook the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. But it's not exactly street legal, so keep it on the down low.
