Agreed, you should be running 5/30 IMO in the winter. Step up to 10/30 in the summer if you want.Originally posted by TSTONE View Postyour op sounds fine - dont worry about it - also dont go too gonzo with viscosity in the winter time - 10/40 is plenty - you do more harm than good if you too thick
That LT1 is a Gen II small block, you can run a small block chevy with as low as 5 psi at idle, I had heard it for years and I have done it with a gen II sbc myself. So 20 is perfectly fine at idle. However if its really bothering you get a quality mechanical gauge and double check it. If its still to low the next step would be to get a high volume oil pump and change it out. I did that after the 5 psi made me nervous after awhile too. The higher volume will assure that there is more than adequate oil flowing through the motor and it will bump up the pressure as a result.

be careful with HV oil pumps!! I had one of those budgetted into my cam swap until i found out they are capable of sucking the stock oil pan dry at high rpm. not a good thing! they need a deep well.Originally posted by Orange Terror View PostAgreed, you should be running 5/30 IMO in the winter. Well, true, that's possible. So if you intend to run it above 5k alot for an extended period of time then yes get a deep well pan if it will clear.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View Postbe careful with HV oil pumps!! Yea when I went to work today I listened for a knocking and squeaking...didnt hear anything that sounded like that. There were also a few vids of spun bearings on camaroz28 and they are a lot louder then i had thought so im happy. i was going to do a very mild cam swap this winter but was not planning on replacing my pil pump.2011 Ford Raptor SuperCrew
