a 350 and 400th in my experience is probably one of the easiest build ups you can do... if you get stummped there are plenty of books and online forums to help you through it... but if you get a good enough kit most come with directions on what to do...B&M i think is the easiest because its so popular and alot of people are using it... are you sure you want the 350 though? i mean i know you can build it up for power and it weighs less but really a stock 400 is about the same as a built 350 and can handle pretty much anything you throw at it... build up a 400 and you will never replace or fix it again aslong as you change your fluids and filters like normal... they do cost a tad more at a junkyard but the build up kit is the same price as the 350's pretty much...

I took a 350 apart in class....its fairly simple as far as parts....its just knowing the clearances and making sure everything is sitting in its correct place. I checked out pro builts trans overhaul kits....they say its good to about 550hp.... which should be adaquete

are you plannign on buying new? or going to buy a used and build it up? you can find pretty good deals on already built 350's but you will save probably 300 bucks or more doing the labor yourself...

cause i have a few 350's lying around at my mechs already torn into a bit... if your planning on a full build up of gears, valve body and clutches then i have a few nice solid cases with internals you could work off of... im sure there is a 9 inch somewere i will check for ya... probably grab one for 100 bucks knowing him...

I would say get a Shift Improver Kit from B & M, that's what we put into our TH400 in the Monte Carlo after the trans went out on us. We had it installed by the guy that rebuilt it, and it is insanely strong now. Install the shift kit during the rebuild, it will save you a lot of time later, and it will drive that much better. We picked up ours at RamChargers, they have them in stock. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out for you!

i would say check out ebay first if your thinking money wise... thats where i got my last trans kit for a really good price brand new... valve body, gears, clutches and all new seals was like 125 bucks.. ill see what i have for that too i think i have the basic upgrade kit... no valve bodys or gears or anything just the new seals and gasket type stuff...

Um my dads buddy has a freshly rebuilt TH350 with shift kit and 2500stall. He built it for some guys street/strip car and the guy installed it with a powerglide shifter and complained it didnt work right. He built the guy a whole nother tranny before the dumbass realized he needed a 3spd shifter. So he has this first one laying around... lol.
