You don't have it that bad. My stock 10 bolt has been leaking for the past 30,000 miles at the pinion seal. I've been lazy, and now I have a huge mess. I cleaned up the one I bought from Kyle over the summer. A can of degreaser, and a few runs with the power washer and it was looking really good. A couple cans of ceramic high temp pant and it looks brand new. I just need to get the motivation to crawl under my car and get to work. Are you going to put in a set of 4.10's ????? It should be easy now.

no im leaving the original GM gears in because factory gears are the strongest. even if i used GM gears on the swap it would be weaker. Im more worried about strength that ratio when Im barking 4th gear, and will be in the 12s this season.Originally posted by transampimp View PostYou don't have it that bad. they are gargantuan bricks, its plenty safe. I have a piece of wood on the top to distribute the weight, and carpet underneath. the car is a foot and half off the ground and it doesnt budge. I always do a thorough shake test.-Joel

I think it will be OK, before i put the car away i was practicing shifting fast while being a lot more gentle on the rear. always possible though.Originally posted by WMCCjames View PostWell at least it will be all clean and easier to remove after you crack that beeootch apart at the track this summer.

I twisted my LS1 aluminum driveshaft that I put in my previous 89GTA, and a week later snapped the pinion shaft locking the rear axle in place. damn borg warner rear ends, impossible to find and I had to drive to indiana for it. I had nittos on the rear, it was hot out. and had to have it towed from detriot to saginaw.

yea, ill be running a drag radial. i cut very consistent 2.1 60 foots on the street tires, and ive never been able to better than that. I can easily lose a few tenths there, and safely too. I wont be doing any big clutch drops, i just want to hook instead of feathering the gas all the way through first. Im only worried about having too much traction on the shifts. Im good with knowing my limits.Originally posted by WMCCjames View PostYou are gonna be running a drag radial right?Last edited by JoeliusZ28; December 30th, 2007, 03:40 AM.-Joel

grenading occurs from clutch dumps or hard shifts. I will NEVER dump the clutch off the line, always feather. I may feather from a higher RPM but im fully aware that my clutch has enough bite to send my 10 bolt to rear axle heaven.Originally posted by kammi10 View Postyour still prolly gonna grenade it-Joel
