In my search for an aftermarket shifter I've narrowed it down to 2 options. The Hurst Billet Plus and The B&M Ripper. What is your input on the 2? I've heard nothing but good about the B&M but IMO it looks so plain. I've been researching like 3-4 days now and only found like 2 people that don't like the Hurst but it looks so much sweeter. I know I shouldn't go by looks but that Hurst is sick looking! The Hurst also has adjustable stops and comes with a ball (which wouldn't be used anyways)

There are 2 Hurst Billet plus shifters. One with a plain round black stick and then the one with the flat chrome stick. Mine had the black stick but it was swapped for a WS6 store round chrome 6" shortie. I set my stops per the instructions when I installed it and haven't messed with it since. If you don't adjust them right you'll get a nasty metal on metal vibration sound. You can also remove 2 of the springs in the Hurst if it's too tight. I don't know if the B&M offers that. B&M now owns Hurst so you're money's going to the same company!

I've driven cars with both and have to say I like the Hurst better.

        Good info to know!

I assume the black stick and flat chrome are the same length? If so, how was it compared to stock? I am upgrading mostly for better shifts but I'd also like a shorter overall shifter.

The black stick was slightly shorter than stock but not by much. The biggest thing is it gets rid of the stupid rubber isolator on the shift handle the stocker has. It didn't feel short enough for me which is why I ordered up the short stick, which is TOO short with a ball knob. It's almost perfect with the pistol grip though. I don't think I ever took any pics of it prior to the short stick/pistol grip setup.

i kept that rubber isolator with my pro 5.0. just had to modify it slightly. wayyyyy too much noise came from that thing without it.

WHAT?!?! Getting rid of the retarded rubber isolater on the shift handle is the whole point of going to an aftermarket shifter?!?! Otherwise you still have the sloppy shifting crap that the stocker has. If you have your stops set right you don't get any noise.

NO. That you want and are supposed to keep. On the stock stick there is a rubber pad that bolts between the handle and the upper part of the shifter base. THAT is the isolater I'm talking about that gives you the rubbery feel. The rubber boot that goes over the base is to keep crud out of the shifter as well as the piece that screws to the floor to keep heat and debris out.

ok well that boot does a lot more "Isolating" than the rubber piece you are talking about. I definitely dont have that anymore.
