Boo! ten bolt

Well the Z is down, last wednesday the 10 bolt I bought from TB2 started making this tick noise when I would make a turn and sometimes a loud clank, the types that make you wince cause you it cant be good. It only does it after a turn so Im thinking its a clutch pack problem or something. The stupid thing was suposedly just rebuilt before I bought it and its been fine until now so I dont know whats up. I dont think Tony sold me a bum rear-end or anything like that besides he just bought it from some other guy and never used it if I remember right. Anyway my buddy Rob is taking a peek at it for me since Im busy as heck this week.

But on a postive note I found another fender for my car that the right color, and its within driving distance plus Ive bought parts from the guy before so I should have that on withen the next couple of weeks.

Also Im gonna bring my car back to stock height, the lowering just screws with the traction so bad and I dont have the time or money to make it right, I need to get those stupid cut springs out from under my rear end like yesterday.

that sucks. i dont blame you on the suspension either. I always thought LT1s look good stock height. Its the LS1s that are the 4x4s. Lowering plus launch squat = bottomed out rear.

its a matter of time before my 10 bolt pops too i think

the lowered look is cool...get some LCA relocation brackets and a decent tire on the rear of your car, you wont have traction problems anymore. infact you will only have more 10 bolt problems....you DONT want TRACTION with a 10 bolt, especially with a 6 speed car

edit... you also don't want axle hop...that kills rear ends of all sizes as well...the relocations brackets will get rid of a lot of that axle hop...more then likely that's what killed your 10 bolt

axle hop is the #2 killer of ten bolt. right behind 5000 RPM launches on heated slicks 8-O

Well thats what I get for waiting so long to fix the spring problem. I looks like the spider gear where FUBAR'ed. Good news is I just picked up a new Eaton Posi with carbon fiber rings and clutch packs for $300 installed, Which is a true posi locker instead of a tightly packed limited slip like chevy performance one that it had.

So to break it down

New rear brake pads and rotors to fix crappy stopping power $49.00
New rear O.E.M style springs to fix wheel hop,bad traction and shitty ride $57.00
New Diff to make car drive without sounding like its possesed by demons $300.00

Having a F-body that lauches one way without the rear end launching the other...Priceless
