  • Coolant leak

Brenna came back last night from making a booze run and her car was leaking coolant. Since it was so dark out we waited until today to check it out. I hooked up a pump and pressurized the system it is started leaking out the top passenger side of the water pump so I figured it needed a new gasket. Today I tore it apart and replaced the pump (might as well if you already have the old one off) and gasket. Take the car for a test drive and it starts pissing out coolant. There is a big bracket for the alternator so I can't see if its leaking out the side of the head (maybe a freezeplug/threaded plug) or the head gasket is bad. Any ideas?

Sometime in the cars history someone put that stop leak in there. Could it be possible for a big chunk of that to break loose, plug a passage, create a coolant surge and blow a gasket?

For what it matters the car is a 1994 Camaro RS 3.4L

Just intake gaskets? Isn't the whole intake aluminum on those things? I know the GenII 3800 has the plastic upper/lower intake and thats what always goes wrong.

Haven't touched a 3.4 but late models cars that use dexa-cool coolant have major issues with the coolant eating the intake gaskets.

I did. All the connections and hoses are fine. Where ever the coolant is coming from is nowhere near a hose anyways

The shit that I pulled out of there was reddish/orange/brown. Honestly it looked like mud but you could tell it defiantly wasn't green to begin with.

Well I just ordered a full Felpro intake gasket set from www.rockauto.com for 21 bucks and felpro head gaskets for 15. Figured if I'm doing one I might as well do the other.
