if buying alpine don't buy off ebay (there is no warranty) also bear in mind ebay may not be best price either. I prefer panasonic, used them in my competition vehicles, or if you want high end go eclipse (alpine is the same level as kenwood, jvc, pioneer yada yada) Clarion is also very good. If you do pioneer go premier and don't forget site sponsors who give you a discount, and a warranty

I still stand behind my recommendation for Pioneer, JVC, or Clarion. I'm not any kind of competition guy or anything, but I am a musician, and I love the sound that my setup provides.

Pioneer and JVC are not top line brands, but are decent (leaving pioneer's premier line out of it) I would avoid jvc right now simply because the company just sold to some investors inTexas, and who knows what will happen with the company. Alpine is a quality product with a horrible user interface (rates as one of the most cumbersome to operate by trade magazines) eclipse is one of the best sounding, but the cost reflects it, Clarion is a very good brand, as is kenwood, and panasonic

This is some great info guys, im going to really look into this tommrow, and maybe decide what one i like.

The biggest difference is that i really dont listen to CDs...ive got my ipod that i have a fm transmitter for.

I really want to get a deck that i can just plug my ipod right in it, cause the transmitter gets fuzzy sometimes when iit gets to far away. and if i can control the ipod from the deck, thats way better, cause my ipod light doesnt work so its kinda hard to read at night. So ill spend a little more on one that i can control the ipod from too......

chew on that, and get back at me

kenwood was the first with an ipod interface, most companies have some type of dock now also

if you going to go with the radio i am going with the pioneer. The pioneer model for this year have the same ipod connection as the alpine. I might wait another month or two because that is when the rest of the new model radios comes out. Also the pioneer gives you a lot of advanced controls like the high pass filter(the higher end model let you control the fron and rear hpf), and not only can you control the volume on the subwoofer but also the frequency which last time i checked you can't on the alpine last time i checked. however the alpine for this year does have the high pass filter.

if you mainly want it for the ipod then alpine is coming out with a radio that works just like the ipod. it has a small screen i think like 3 inches and it is in color that shows all the ipod information however it doesn't play cds.

Yeah i seen that, i think it comes out next week....but its too much for my pockets, i think its like 400 bucks. I really dont need a new model either, id rather get a year old model that is good, at a better price than when it came out.

                                I NEED TO DECIDE!!!

Do the new pioneer model that have the ipod connector like alpine you say display it on the screen, or do you have to still control it with the ipod itself?
