I have a problem with my sound system. My Front right speaker set is generating static at randon intervals. I took it to car tunes ans there answer was to just start replacing stuff at my cost til they figured it out, not cool. So Im willing to pay somebody to figure out whats going on, because IM fed up trying to figure it out myself.

Swap speakers side to side to see if it's the speaker or the wiring. Are you running an amp to the front speakers? If so you might want to replace the wiring running to it as it sounds like it may have gotten pinched and is randomly shorting out if the speaker isn't the problem. What types of connectors do you use on your wires? Crimp, solder, just twisted up and taped to the connector? I've seen just about every wrong way to attach wires before!

Getgone is right, it sounds like you have some wires touching or a bad connection. Just run over your wires and make sure nothing is pinched. good luck.sigpic

Ive been trying to get a the car all day to do the wire swapping thing but Ive been too busy at work. the problem is I cant tell which speaker is giving me distortion or if its all of them. And the static is random, so I think Im going to have to swap them and leave it that way for a few days. Right now Im pretty sure its either the Amp or the RCA's. But heres a basic system breakdown.
1 Alpine 9815 ( I think, I always screw up the model number)
1 JL 300/4 powering :
1 pair Boston acoustic pro component set in the front
1 pair of pioneer something or anothers in the rear ( these are starting to wear out a little but they havent been particularly bad)
2 pioneer 800w max mono block D class amps powering :
2 12" coustic subwoofers. ( Not giving me any problems )
Cap was removed form the system last week.
RCA's running from radio to amp and twisted speaker wire into amp connections going to spade connectors at the speakers.
The weird thing I noticed yesterday is I tryed check all the polarities at the amp and two were reversed but not the channel giving me problems, even though the wires where run the right way ( as far as going by the markings) I havent changed them over yet becasue I didnt have my allens on me ( one damn annoying thing about JL is the set screw connectors).
So right now I plan of fixing the polarity problems then doing the wire swapping. Then trying to swap the RCA's. by then I should have an idea of what it is. My money is on the amp needs service. The Chevy Camaro was built with a single purpose in mind which it executes flawlessly...Going very very fast in a straight line until your hair catches on fire.
