I am trying to build me a system. First I had 2 rockford p1's and a rockford 325.1 mono block amp and it was ok. Now I have two alpine type e's with the 600 mono amp and it is still just ok. I want it to be really loud with a lot of deep bass. It is very inexpensive for me to get alpine so I am wondering should I upgrade to two type r's and have a 600 mono alpine amp running each one or should i just go with some jl's?

I would go with the two type r's and put 600 on each one. They get loud but they need the power, my buddy has two alpine type r 12's, and we put my alpine 1000 watt amp to them and they were nice and loud, and pretty clean sounding. I'm sure if you got the two 12's and put 600 to each of em you would like it.

Did they hit real deep because that is what I want to. I want that base where you can't seen nothing out your rearview and it hits so hard when you turn it up it almost hurts

well if your really serious about it look into porting the two 12's. If you want really deep bass get 15's, but when you get 15's you sacrifice some clarity in rock music. I have one 15 and when i had it in my cavalier, when the bass hit the rear view would actually move like it would point down towards the floor after a couple good bass notes. Good luck though, if you your looking for loudness factor look at subs that have a high spl rating, and large excursion. This will give you a sub that will move a ton of air and will give you that punch your looking for. I don't know what your money situation is but look at a brand called resonant engineering. I gaurantee you won't be disapointed. I hit 145 db's with 1 15 in a cavalier. www.reaudio.com Well good luck man.

I use to have 2 12" Alpine Type-R subs and they where aswsome. When I go to do a system again I'm getting some Type-R's again.

go with the new Kicker CVX12's. You CANT go wrong with them. Just get something well enough to power them and you'll be set for sure. 1500watts/750RMS They will rattle your windows if thats what your looking for....

Check around ebay for some deals.

for deep bass avoid kicker (they are designed for kick drum and not deep bass) the box has more to do with the sound than the amp or almost the sub. DB drive makes a good sub that will play loud for less than alpine

you should talk to icepick on here his system is over 1400.00 watts it's so loud we can't turn the bass all the way up.

Turning bass all the way up doesn't relate to loud, turning it up all the way just adds distortion. Wattage doesn't mean a whole lot either (especially if going off manufacturers specs as most are so grossly inflated it only happens when lightning strikes)

the loudness of a sub has to do with the efficiency or the spl rating of the sub, this rating will tell you how loud the sub will get when compared to the wattage given. Look for a sub that has good spl ratings. Other than that it's your car and your choice.

I would go with Alpine before JL as far as subs go. The type R's are great. JL makes excellent amps but their subs are a bit lackluster for the price. Also check out Elemental designs.

it all depends on the music you listen to, ive had everything, the type r's are probably the best subs you can buy for the price, they're comparable to MTX 7500 which retail for much more, check out sites online like acaraudio.com and others, i promise you though, if you can afford the JL's like some 12w3s you will NOT be dissapointed...they're insane and CLEAR, i listen to more rock then rap, and i thought with 12's they'd be too slow in response for rock, but damn, those subs are nice! amps are iffy, with amps, you get what you pay for, straight up, hifonics amps (such as brutus) are phenomenal, also cant go wrong with audiobahn amps

most of all with ANY car audio project...GOOD LUCK!

i was pm'd and answered him there but i figured i would put it out here, i run 2 15 orion in a custom all sealed box, directed amp go big. 4 mids 4 tweeters and 2 mini subs in the back seat sidewalls. you can say what you want but adjusted right its rather clear and incredibly loud. no distortion and you can feel the hair in your ears move and the pounding in the chest. i also have a pioneer 8000 for the head unit only because when i bought it it was the better one out. there are better one than that out there. but go with 15's but dont forget the door speakers or the back speakers tweeters and little subs 6 inch i think fit in the back seat. but i also put $3000 in the sound system when i did it and installed it myself run big wire and build slowly. this way rock music rap music and country all sound good. ill be at the meat and great in jun. look me up

                          here are a couple shots.
