  • Help me find the right head unit

    Hi all,

Heres my deal. I have a factory monsoon cd I want to replace. I want a headunit that allows me to use my ipod throught the interface, and not an auxil plug in.

Also, I would like something that looks right in my SS interior meaning no silver look.

Who has some pics or suggestions. I have been told to go the alpine route for ipod connectivity, but I havent found one that looks right for my car.

Anyone?Pics are great if you got any!

A guy I know has the alpine in his 02 Trans Am and it looks pretty good. Besides the head unit the only other interior mod is a billet hurst shift knob. So they look good together.

Alpine is the way to go for ipod connectivity. However, i would much rather use RCA connectors anyway. IMO ipod interfaces are a real PITA to navigate, I can find what im looking for 10x faster using the ipod itself. My pioneer headunit allows me to do either or, however with pioneers you gotta get an expensive add-on box instead of just a cheap alpine cable. I feel the only downside to using RCAs is that it doesnt charge the ipod... but mine lasts 3 hours and i rarely drive longer than that.

Alpine or Kenwood have the best ipod interface, and a fairly standard black face.

shows how young you are. They were the sony xplode of the '80s (cheap and sold everywhere with low quality)

Well, Alpine is a good brand. I would recommend Clarion too, they make good equipment. I've got no problems with my Clarion, and it's a few years old now.
