  • Which stereo setup for t/a?

Well I got some subs, two jl audio 12-w3 d6's. I also got a pretty decent sony class d amp.

I am debating putting a sub(s) in my t/a. So far its got the stock monsoon system and I don't care what anyone says, it is a good sounding setup. (I dont even crank the bass and people always ask if I have subs and when I say no, they don't believe me. Also it gets pretty loud as well and still sounds good.) I am leaning towards stealthbox.

    Options:
-Stealthbox with one 12. I have run this setup before and it is possible. Sounds great. Only uses half the weight and still keeps trunk. (I would make the box myself). http://www.subthump.com/acamarostealth.htm something like that.

-2 12s in trunk. I could make a box like this to still use the ttops. It should pound a bit louder but It will take a lot of weight and space.

-No sub setup in T/a for weight savings & Trunk

    -Do something else, please specify...

I think you should do the one 12,it will sound good with the hatch
or I like the idea of 2 10's with a custom box. Always thought that 2 12's are a bit to much, just my .02

I'd get the t-top box. It's not like it's pernament so you can just take it out when you go to the track or what not.

t top box, definatly do custom, prefab sucks (they won't match the subs) 2 10's probably would do enough if you think the monsoon sounds ok (it is rated as the worst sounding premium system ever installed in a car, most reviewers prefer teh basic one)

yeah my monsoon sucks and Im currently building my own "stealthbox" also. just need a little bass for filling in what the stocker cant do. also i will upgrade the door speakers to a nice component set and amplify them also. you should just do what sounds good to you and not what every one else suggest or whats popular, its your ride and you have to listen to it all the time.

Well I would say to run the Stealthbox with the 12". Right now I'm running a 10" Sony and a old Rockford Fosgate 500 watt amp that I got from a freind of mine with the stealthbox. That set up can shake my hole dam car. One warning tho I have been having problems with the alt. not being able to supplie the amount of power I need. To the point of every once in a while during a trip I'll end up having to shut down the sub or risk draining my bat. all the way down. Now this could just be that this is the orginal alt. and need to be replaced I have not done much looking into it yet.

A little 500 watt amp shouldn't drain your battery that much. Exspicaly if your car is running. Your alt or battery could just be going bad.

ya thats what I was thinking I didn't think it would be pulling that much power. I don't know alot abou car audio but my freind has done over 100 systems I and belive he worked for Rockford Fosgate dealer or some thing. I don't think its the battery I just replaced it this summer. I belive it is the alt. its a 12 near 13 year old car and as far as I know it has never been replaced the orginal owner lives right next door and he does not remeber the dealer ever doing it. (only place he had any thing done to the car.)

a real 500 watt amp will drain the battery and alternator (add the fuses up to get current draw) few manufacturers put out real 500 watt amps though (most companies use max watt ratings and were doing it at 16 volts at 1hz or so, and that was just before the thing smoked, use the CEA specs and most are about 30-50% lower)
