usually its pretty easy... just start taking things apart. Im guessing youve tried that so not probably not a helpful reply... im sure one of us can lend a hand with it.

Also if this car is going to the junkyard like you were saying, you could always just take a BFH to the dashboard to speed things up ....[/badidea]

You just need the tool to remove the stero bezel plate. I made my own tool when I did my 2 stereos in both my 99 escorts. I just through 2 of the factory stereos out a few weeks ago.
Be careful when you remove the heater control switch because they don't give you much room to remove this switch and it will probably come apart on you.
        Special Tool(s)Radio Removing Tool
        415-001 (T87P-19061-A)

Disconnect the heater temperature cable (18518), located next to the accelerator pedal, from the air temperature control door.
        1. NOTE: Make sure the heater temperature cable is completely disconnected before removing the integrated control panel (ICP).
Use Radio Removing Tool to pull the integrated control panel (ICP) out of the instrument panel.
        1. Disconnect the radio antenna lead in cable (18812), the electrical connectors, and the climate control vacuum hoses, and remove the ICP.

          ***** Edit****
Sorry....I didnt read your post clearly enough. It's friday and im pooped.

Hopefully they didn't hack your original harness when they put in your aftermarket stereo.
IF the factory harness was cut, you'll need one of these to get back to the factory stereo.

Do you have the original radio still?
If so, look on the below link, it has photos for your application on how to disassemble the dash.

***Original message before I re-read the posting*******

Yup, and on some of the Fords, they sell the entire front bezel with AC controls to swap in since the original may be slightly different for an aftermarket radio.

score! thanks a bunch guys! so, pretty much, im gonna want to get the bezel out of scort1. .. .because it looks like the same damn thing that would be needed to put the radio into scort2 (which is an 01 se). i am not a fan of spending 70 bucks on that crap. new roomies bf is pretty useful and was able to get the head unit out of scort1.. . . and he says he can pull out the bezel n such too. .. .aaaaaaaaaand, he says he can transfer all that to scort2! lol, ive never had a roomie with a useful boyfriend before!
