Alright, I hooked up my ipod2car interface tonight and the ipod says it is charging, but I can't get it to play music on the car speakers. I have a cd headunit that was manufactured on march 20, 2000 so it is definitely after the mid 99 switchover in models. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sell the Ipos get a Toshiba Gigabeat and a Wireless Transmitter and still have $100 in your pocket!!! J/K I really don't like IPOS but just get a Wireless Radio tranmitter we sell them for about $30 for a universal one or get one with the IPOS interface for about $60-70. Works great and very easy to use. Also you can use it for whatever else you want. Laptop PC surround sound in your car! Tada!!!Last edited by phoenix_rising; June 29th, 2006, 07:20 PM.

How much did the iPod to car interface cost you? I was thinking of getting an FM transmitter, but I was afraid of how poor the sound quality would be. Also, I don't know how old my car stereo is. . . Better find out!Nick H.

well it only works with stock head units from mid99-02 for the one I have. It is made for stock decks in cars. If you have an aftermarket headunit maybe there is something from that company for your deck. Cost me around $130------------------------------------------

I have a iMonster FM transmitter, it works great in all the cars it put it in so far and it charges the iPod at the same time, had it for about six months, I had it in a wide range of cars from CTS, Saab 9-3, Subaru Outback, 2000 Impala, to my Camaro. Meijer sells them for like $60

I do want one, dammit! lol I'll buy the iMonster from Meijers. . . I think I saw it there before. As for the question at hand, if I'm not mistaken, you have to smack the iPod really hard with your right hand while holding it in your left to get it to do anything. . . lol I have to lay down the iSmackdown about 2x a day now, stupid 4th gen 20 gig iPod freezes up and shows the stupid folder error message when I reset it now. . . I should have got the damn Toshiba GigaBeat. . . Maybe if you try resetting the iPod with it plugged in to the car stereo? Maybe you just got a defective link cable? Could be many things.Nick H.

I say return what you have and shop for something that works for your car. It seems like it is charging but the something is wrong with the unit you have and not getting the data out of your iPod and just providing power to it.

those have a re[putation for not working. The Imonster is a decent product (monster is far from the best just the most recognized is all) an fm transmitter will sound fine, sound quality from an Ipod is less than fm radio anyway (unless you have just 2 songs and tehn it's still not cd)

How do you have it connected anyway? Through a 1/4" cable converted to 2 RCA's or just a 1/4" double male cable or is it something unique just to Ipod? If you have an aftermarket stereo there should be a connection for an RCA (composite input). Just get a 1/4" double male cable and plug that into an RCA/ 1/4" female Y cable. That should work since they are both analog transfers.

I have the stock cd headunit and it connects by a cable that plugs into the cd changer slot in the back of the headunit and then runs to a box that has another cable connecting to the jack on the ipod.
My sound system looks totally stock and that is what I am going for, the stealth look. By looking through my windows people have no idea I even have a system in there and I like that. So no aftermarket headunit for me either.------------------------------------------
